We are hiring!

Are you interested in combining ideas from causal inference and automated machine learning to develop novel methods for learning causal models? The mens X machina group in the University of Crete is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the areas of causal discovery  and automated machine learning. The project is funded by an ERC proof of concept grant, aiming to develop methods and software for automated causal discovery. You will be working closely with Prof. Ioannis Tsamardinos and Dr. Sofia Triantafillou.

What we are looking for: The candidate is expected to have a PhD in statistics, machine learning, mathematics or related discipline. Solid knowledge of statistical theory and methods. Previous experience with causal inference or probabilistic graphical models is desirable, but not required. Strong English skills are also greatly desirable.

Your will be expected to:

  • Develop novel methods combining ideas from the areas of causal discovery and automated machine learning.

  • Implement these methods in a software package

  • Publish at top-tier conferences and journals

  • Collaborate with other researchers and PhD students in the lab

What we offer: This project offers full-time, fixed term positions for a period of 12 months. Our group participates in multiple projects and an extension of the position in other projects related with causal discovery and autoML is possible.

How: Please send a CV to Glykeria Fragkioudaki glykeria.frag@gmail.com, titled “AutoCD postdoctoral position”.

Timeline: The screening process will begin at the end of November and continue until the position is filled. Potential candidates are encouraged to submit their applications by November 30th. Interviews are expected to take place in early December, with a start date soon after.
