Biostatistician / Dietary Data Analyst (Nutrition Epidemiology) | Athens, GR (Hybrid)

Through its consumer-facing platform Food For Health (www.foodforhealth.gr), TheraVita also delivers evidence-based nutrition services and public communication, combining scientific expertise with broad public visibility.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a landmark international research initiative on global dietary surveillance, applying advanced epidemiological and statistical methods to harmonize and analyze dietary data across the world. The study is led by Assoc. Professor Renata Micha (Founder of Food For Health | Scientific Director of TheraVita).

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a Biostatistician / Dietary Data Analyst to support analysis across large-scale nutrition datasets and national dietary surveys. You will work closely with our nutrition scientific team to produce robust, well-documented, reproducible analyses and decision-ready outputs. The role is ideal for someone who combines strong statistical rigor with careful documentation and comfort operating within structured workflows.

• Develop and maintain a master Statistical Analysis Plan (SAP) and reusable analysis code (Stata and/or R/Python) aligned with project methods and reporting standards.

• Support data preparation, cleaning, and QA/QC checks across survey cycles and datasets.

• Contribute to harmonization workflows and standardized outputs across countries/cycles (e.g., consistent metadata, reproducible pipelines).

• Run statistical analyses and sensitivity checks, including survey-weighted estimates and subgroup analyses.

• Apply methods commonly used in nutrition epidemiology and dietary surveillance (e.g., energy adjustment, usual intake approaches where applicable). • Produce clear tables/figures and concise technical notes for transparent, audit-ready reporting.

• Participate in team check-ins and in-person meetings in Athens when required.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Biostatistics/ Statistics.

• Strong experience with Stata; proficiency in R and/or Python (SQL is a plus).

• Familiarity with complex survey data and/or dietary intake data (24-hour recalls, food records, FFQs).

• Demonstrated ability to produce clean, well-documented code and reproducible outputs.

• Excellent attention to detail; strong communication and ability to deliver on timelines.

• Excellent written and spoken English (and Greek).

• Athens-based (or able to commute to Athens) and available for in-person meetings as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Nutrition Epidemiology, or related field.

• Experience with multi-country or multi-cycle survey harmonization and standardized reporting.

• Experience with dietary data harmonization and standardized reporting across studies or countries.

• Prior work in collaborative research settings producing outputs for external stakeholders.
