RES Platforms & Data Integration Engineer

The RES Platforms & Data Integration Engineer will support PPC Renewables’ Digital Factory team, contributing to the development and continuous enhancement of industrial monitoring systems, operational analytics, cloud data platforms, and AI-driven solutions across a multinational renewable energy portfolio spanning countries in Southeast Europe.

The role requires a strong understanding of renewable energy operations combined with modern technical expertise in OT/IT systems, SCADA, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, data engineering, and artificial intelligence (AI). The role holder will be expected to manage complex technical domains, take initiative, and effectively leverage the support, knowledge, and collaboration available within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Support, maintain and enhance industrial monitoring systems and operational data platforms for renewable energy assets across multiple countries.
  • Drive technical initiatives related to SCADA, industrial monitoring platforms, operational analytics, AI initiatives, and digital transformation.
  • Design and support of integrations between SCADA systems, industrial monitoring platforms, operational databases, APIs, cloud platforms, and analytics environments.
  • Working with industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus TCP/IP, MQTT, IEC 60870-5-104, and similar protocols.
  • Design and support of cloud-based operational data architectures, integrations, and analytics workflows through Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Contribution to predictive maintenance and AI-driven analytics initiatives for renewable energy assets (wind, solar photovoltaic, and hybrid projects).
  • Support of operational monitoring workflows for renewable energy projects, including alarm management, event processing, and operational state classification.
  • Contribution to operational analytics workflows for renewable energy projects, supporting asset availability monitoring, performance ratio (PR), energy loss assessment, curtailment analysis, and KPI calculation based on relevant departmental guidelines.
  • Development and enhancement of custom operational analytics applications and event-processing workflows.
  • Contribution to operational analytics workflows for renewable energy projects, supporting asset availability monitoring, performance ratio (PR), energy loss assessment, curtailment analysis, and KPI calculation based on relevant departmental guidelines.
  • Enhancement and development of custom operational analytics applications and event-processing workflows.
  • Support of operational data modeling, database management, reporting, and analytics workflows.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams including RES Operations, IT, external integrators, data scientists, and analytics teams.
  • Management of complex technical tasks with a high degree of autonomy, leveraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and available organizational resources.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field from a recognized higher education institution.
  • A postgraduate degree in a technical/engineering field is considered an advantage.
  • At least 7 years of experience with industrial monitoring platforms, SCADA systems, or operational data systems within renewable energy or industrial environments.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and Microsoft Fabric, or equivalent modern cloud analytics platforms.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols: OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, IEC 60870-5-104, and related technologies.
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP networking principles (routing, switching, subnetting) and industrial network architectures.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing solutions for SCADA remote control and remote monitoring of operational data is considered an advantage.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing specialized asset management software solutions (Asset Management): SAP S/4HANA-EAM, GIS, MS Visio, AutoCAD is considered an advantage.
  • Availability for regular and ad hoc business travel.
